Live Music Here, There, Everywhere

Outdoor Concert @ Topsail State Park

Sing to him,
sing praises to him;
tell of all his wondrous works!
Psalm 105:2

Outdoor concerts melodify the surroundings almost every night of the week.

Each 30A community has its own outdoor concert.

The South Walton Visitor’s Center has a broad event listing.  The free Review publication shares dates and times of various community concerts.  Keep an eye out for free magazines in groceries, coffee shops, etc.

Our personal favorites this last visit for their outdoor concerts were Alys Beach (free) and TopSail State Park (donation requested).

Outdoor Concerts at Alys Beach

The Alys Beach concerts are incredibly family friendly and spacious.

Blankets and beach chairs litter the large green lawn.

Children play in the fountains or roll down the small hills with screams of delight.

Our dogs receive unlimited pets and kisses from neighboring families.

The donut and yogurt stand has a steady stream of delighted customers.

Too warm?  Sit on the upper rim to catch a breeze.

As the Alys Beach community continues to develop, the event may popularize and crowds may multiply.

As one older performer/songwriter described the setting, “It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever played.”
The setting aside, the stories and lyrics are of particular interest.  The performers are simple on words but full of experience in hard knocks and wisdom.
The TopSail concerts are facilitated by the Friends of Topsail State Park.
The new stage and seating are set against a lovely background of lake, lily pad, and pine woods.
In regards to family friendliness, the area is surrounded by greenery with children laughing and playing.
We contemplate that this concert might sadly be the best kept secret of 30A as the audience is never large and the concert does not receive attention in the local publications.
