Gasoline, Restrooms, & Traffic

Random Flying J Sign

Then Jacob arose from Beersheba;
and the sons of Israel carried
their father Jacob
and their little ones
and their wives
in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
Genesis 46:5

Gas-up BEFORE Florida state line.

Prices on our last visit were 20% more upon arriving in Florida after driving through Alabama.  But perhaps it was the week we were traveling as it was the week of July 4th.

By the way, the CRAZIEST day to travel to or from the Destin/30A area is SATURDAY.  Expect to sit in traffic somewhere between I-10 and Highway 98.  Other days appear to be easy coming and going.  Condos are generally rented Saturday to Saturday, lending to the mayhem of traffic.

Our favorite spot to fill up close to 30A is the Walmart gas station across from Walmart on Highway 98.  Other considerations were the Tom Thumb gas stations here and there.

When driving south on I-65 on our way to Florida, we try to stop at Flying J at one of the last exits on I-65 before we hit the “backroads”.  It is significantly cheaper than the small gas stations, and it has clean bathrooms. J

Gas stations and restrooms are few and far between once exiting I-65, another reason to top off at Flying J.  Other options for an emergency bathroom/dog walk/snack on the state highways are the Dollar Generals.
